Edmund and Sarah Warland (nee Cornford)- Migration to Tasmania - 1837

The first Warland family that appears in Tasmania appears to come from the Oxford area.

Edmund Warland was the son of Edmund (possibly Samuel) Warland (1771 - 1839) and Elizabeth Smith. He migrated to Tasmania, Australia and met and married his wife Sarah CORNFORD (also recorded as CORNFIELD) sometime before 1836 when their first child was born there. They had the following children:

Edmund's brother Thomas Warland migrated to Australia in 1845 with his wife Rebecca.

Children of Edmund and Sarah Warland

Sarah Warland married Isaac CHAPPLE (also recorded as CHAPEL) on 17 September 1862 in Public House, Fingal, Tasmania, and had 8 daughters and one son. Two of their daughters, Alice and Leah, married RANSOMs (Leah married Joseph RANSOM).

Emily Warland married George William RICHARDS on 28 October 1876 in Fingal, Tasmania, and they had four children.
