1851 Census - Warland / Warlands and other variations

The following table shows Warlands and Worlands in the 1851 census, extracted from information available via The UK National Archives and the UK Census Online listing. It is not clear why these two (free) census listings contain some different names, but it may possibly be a misreading of the handwriting (e.g., Warland/Worland or other spelling). The UK Census Online website records also contain the occupation, which is not recorded in the UK National Archives listing. Names that show the occupation are identical in both lists but the occupation from the UKCO listing is included.

Many Worland families also came from Cambridgeshire so the list below needs to be read carefully.

Family groups are shown together where these are known or obvious.

Durham

With the exception of Ann Warland (relative William), this appears to be a family grouping.

Essex

Amelia Warland recorded below in Essex is not recorded in the UN National Archives list. Given her place of birth (where many Worlands were born), she may be a Worland (TBC).
